What a Germination Guarantee Actually Covers

A cannabis seed germination guarantee is a floor, a method, and a photo rule. It is not a banner. Ranking shops print high percentages and skip the test. The useful contract is smaller. What number is written. What test counts. What picture they want. Which bags sit outside the promise. This page is that contract in plain English. The live seed FAQ is still the policy. If this article and the FAQ ever disagree, the FAQ wins.

Audience is Canada and the United States. The pack is the same. Named feminized lines sit near four dollars CAD a seed. Mixed feminized sits near a dollar. Marijuana seeds and weed seeds in the cart do not change the test. You still germinate on a damp paper towel. You still photograph the plate if the named pack misses the floor. You still bring the mailer inside the day it lands.

The published floor here is 70 percent on the paper-towel method for named packs. Mixed feminized bags are excepted. Stock is checked periodically. Fresh named seed often pops every bean in a five. That is luck you hope for, not the number we owe you. How to run the towel is cannabis seed germination. What moves a still-viable seed is boosting cannabis seed germination. Shop the current list in the cannabis seeds store.

What the 70 percent floor covers

From the FAQ, almost word for word: seeds are periodically checked for germination. The shop works to sell seed at a 70 percent germination rate, with a normal 100 percent result on good stock. If you get less than 70 percent using the paper-towel method, take a picture of the seeds and contact us, except mixed feminized seeds. We work with you to resolve the issue. That is the whole promise. It is not a refund table. It is not a second replacement of the replacement. It is not a claim you file six months after a kitchen-drawer stash.

Named packs are the ones with a strain on the label. A 5-pack is the usual household order: four plants plus a spare where recreational home grow is four plants per household. Pack math is why a 5-pack is the default order. Quebec still bars recreational planting. Manitoba is indoor only since 1 May 2025. A guarantee does not change the law. Canada rules sit on the Canada seed hub.

Less than 70 percent is the trigger. Count taproots, not hope. A 5-pack that opens four of five meets the floor. A 5-pack that opens three of five is under. A 10-pack needs seven tails to sit on the line. A 3-pack that opens two of three is under. One dud in a five is a spare, which is why the five exists. Two duds in a five is the conversation, if the towel was damp, warm, and photographed.

Score a visible taproot. A seed that swells and never cracks is a fail. A seed that cracks and never pushes white is a fail. A seedling that dies in soil after a healthy tail is cultivation, not the guarantee. Damping-off, a soaked cup, and a blast of light are grower problems. The floor is about the embryo opening.

Mixed feminized bags sit outside the floor

The FAQ excepts mixed feminized seeds on purpose. A mix bag is unnamed, cheaper, and built as a practice pack, not a labeled strain with a QC story you can repeat. You pay about a dollar CAD a seed because you are not buying a named card. The 70 percent floor is for the named vial. If you want the written floor, buy the named line. If you want cheap variety, buy the mix and treat extras as extras. Do not file a named-pack claim on a mix bag. That is the exception, not a loophole we hide after checkout.

The photo is how you use it

A photo is how both sides see the same plate. You cannot score a towel you never ran. A picture of dry seeds on a napkin is not a test. A picture of seeds drowned in a glass is not our method. A picture of empty soil cups a week later is a garden, not a germ score. Take the photo while the attempt is still the attempt: all seeds from that pack on the damp towel, popped and unpopped, with a date in the shot. Phone lock-screen date is enough. Then write with the order number. Contact is the contact page.

How to run the test the policy names

Run the test the FAQ names. Paper towel. Damp, not dripping. Dark. Warm. Fresh named seed often tails in a day or two. Some take four days. Old or stubborn seed can sit longer, which is why you do not throw the plate out at hour twenty. Speed and moisture notes live on boosting cannabis seed germination. Older shells live on starting old cannabis seeds. Those pages are for popping. The claim method is still the towel.

Paper towel, not a swamp cup

Plain white towel. Wet it. Wring it. If you tilt the plate and water runs, it is too wet. Space the seeds. Second damp layer on top. Air still has to move. Two plates, or a bag with a corner cracked. Do not leave them in a glass of water for two days and call it our method. A short soak is optional for stubborn seed, then the towel. A swamp cup is a fail you caused. The step-by-step lives on the germ method page.

21 to 26 °C and a real window

Hold 21 to 26 °C, about 70 to 79 °F. Fresh seed often shows a tail in 24 to 96 hours. 24 to 48 is common. Sitting until day four is still inside a fresh-seed window. Day five to seven is stubborn or cool, not automatically dead. If the room is 18 °C, you are running a fridge test. If the plate sits on a heater, you are cooking embryos. Score the pack after a real window. When the taproot is a few millimetres to about a centimetre, plant it, root down.

What a germination guarantee does not cover

A written floor is not insurance against handling. Seeds die from heat, wet, age in a warm room, and mailers left outdoors. Those are not genetics. Stale-seed signs are on signs your cannabis seeds have gone stale. How long a vial keeps is do cannabis seeds last. If you cooked the pack, we cannot uncook it. If you drowned the towel, we cannot undrown it. Say what you did. A short honest note is faster than a story that the vial was cursed.

The floor also does not cover a method other than the paper towel. Direct soil hides the fail for a week. A two-day water glass drowns the test. Rockwool and plugs can grow a plant. They cannot score our number. It does not cover plant vigor after the tail shows. Stretch, damping-off, and a weak seedling in a hot cup are grower problems. It does not cover a mix bag. It does not cover a parcel that never delivered. That last one is shipping. Optional $15 CAD guaranteed delivery, one reship, 30 business days, lives on the shipping page. It is a different product. The legal framing for novelty seed sits on the germination disclaimer.

A mailbox oven or a frozen porch is handling

Metal mailboxes in sun are ovens. Prairie porches in January are freezers. A small mailer sitting there until evening is handling. Canada Post windows are shorter. USPS after a border is longer, typically 7 to 16 business days, allow 30. Tracking that says delivered means you go get the pack. Do not leave it for a long weekend if the forecast is 40 °C or −30 °C. Bring the pack inside. Let a frozen mailer sit at room temp, still sealed, before you open it so you do not sweat the seeds. Then run the towel. Discreet packing is discreet marijuana seed shipping. Treat the mailer like food, not like junk mail. US door-to-door notes sit on ordering from a Canadian seed bank in the States.

A kitchen-drawer stash is storage, not stock

Warm, humid, and next to the stove is how a good pack becomes a stale pack. Dark, dry, and cool is storage. A fridge can work if the vial stays sealed and you warm it before opening so water does not condense on the seeds. A junk drawer for three months is not storage. The guarantee is for seed as sold, tested soon on the towel, not for a summer in a cutlery tray. Pop what you will plant. Leave the spare in the vial.

How to contact support so the conversation is short

Write after a real test, not after a feeling. Use the contact form. Put the order number in the first line. We cannot score a pack we cannot find. Do not open a germ ticket because USPS paused at the border on day eight. That is shipping. Do not wait until the spare has sat in a drawer until next summer. That is storage.

On a 5-pack, two silent seeds is under 70 percent if you ran all five. On a 10-pack, two silent still meets the floor. Count the whole attempt. Do not germ one, panic, germ one, panic. Run the pack you are scoring. Two duds in five, towel done right, photo in hand, is the first useful email. One dud in five is the spare doing its job.

Zero tails on a named five after a warm, damp towel in the 24 to 96 hour window, and still nothing with the paper kept alive a couple more days, is the loud case. Check the thermometer. Check that the towel was not a swamp. Then photograph every seed and write. Send the order number, the strain, how many you ran, how many tailed, dates, the plate photo with a date in the frame, and one sentence on water, temperature, and whether the pack sat in a mailbox. Do not send a mix-bag claim. Do not send a seedling that died in week two. The FAQ says we work with you to resolve the issue. That is a human conversation, not a robot issuing store credit.

Canada and the United States use the same floor

Same beans. Same 70 percent floor. Same towel. Same photo. Same mixed-bag exception. The pack does not get a different embryo because the label went through USPS. What changes is the ride. Eastern Canada bench, then Canada Post at home, or a border and USPS for most regular US orders. Prices stay CAD. Interac is Canada-only. The germ rule does not convert. A named five is a named five in Halifax or in Ohio. Plant caps are local. Canada’s recreational cap is four plants per household. The guarantee does not add plants.

Questions people ask

Is 70 percent low

It is a floor. Named packs often pop every seed. Ranking pages print a higher medal because the number looks like advertising. A 5-pack at 70 percent would be three and a half seeds, so we score less than 70: three of five is a miss, four of five is a pass. That is stricter on a small pack than it sounds. We would rather print 70 and mean the towel than print a round badge and hide the method. Fresh marijuana seed from a checked named lot should beat the floor. Weed seed in a mix bag is a different buy.

Do autos and photos use the same rule

Yes. The embryo does not get a different percentage because the plant will flower on age. Autos still want the towel, the same heat, and a fast move into the finish pot. Photoperiods still want the same tail. Named versus mix is still the split, not auto versus photo.

Does a cold or hot trip void it

A normal ride does not. Leaving the pack in a hot box or on a frozen step for days is handling. Bring it in the day it lands. Warm a frozen mailer sealed. Then test. If the named pack still misses 70 percent on the towel, write and say how long it sat. If you never brought it in, that is the story. The guarantee covers a seed that will not tail on the named method. It does not cover a mailbox oven.

If you still need a named five, the store is the list. Keep the spare in the vial. Run the towel like you mean the photo. That is what a cannabis seed germination guarantee is for.
